Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is and Support Our Troops

Everyone agrees that federal budget cuts are necessary, but the current Republican budget proposal cuts benefits to our veterans. If you have a "Support Our Troops" bumper sticker, you should write your representatives and demand they do likewise. Our country has a debt problem, but our most important debt is to those who have risked their lives for our freedom:

"Rather than trim from the Pentagon's budget, the GOP assembled its package of $61 billion in cuts from deep reductions to non-defense discretionary programs, including $2.6 billion in funding provided to care for America's veterans through the Veterans Administration.

Leaders of VA's largest union, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), say that the reductions threaten the health care and benefits delivery services provided by VA employees."

"Among the more controversial GOP budget cut proposals is an effort to kill $75 million that's slated to house homeless veterans."
